PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT & PROTOTYPING

Turn an idea into a practical, testable product.

Maikoot Limited supports businesses, product teams and private customers from early ideas, sketches and existing parts through CAD development, prototypes, review and preparation for the next manufacturing step.

You do not need a finished CAD file to begin. Share what you have, explain what the product or part needs to do, and we will help identify the most useful development route.

A CONNECTED DEVELOPMENT SERVICE

From early idea to tested physical result.

Product development can combine requirement review, CAD modelling, material guidance, physical prototypes and design revisions. Maikoot Limited can support one stage or connect several stages into a clear route.

Projects may begin with an idea, sketch, existing component or production problem. The aim is to reduce uncertainty, test practical decisions and prepare the design for the next manufacturing step.

  • Define the requirement and important constraints
  • Develop or modify the CAD design
  • Make and review a practical prototype
  • Refine the design and prepare the next production step
PRACTICAL PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

Support for components, products and production problems.

New products and components

Develop a practical design from an idea, sketch, brief or early concept.

Replacement and improved parts

Recreate, strengthen or adapt a component where the original is unavailable or unsuitable.

Enclosures, mounts and assemblies

Develop fitted parts, housings and small assemblies around the required equipment or components.

Jigs, fixtures and production aids

Create practical tools for positioning, holding, alignment, assembly, potting or inspection.

Fit-check and functional prototypes

Produce physical parts to review fit, handling, assembly and intended function.

Preparation for repeat production

Refine an approved design for low-volume manufacture or another suitable process.

DESIGN - MAKE - EVOLVE

Clear stages. Better decisions.

Not every project needs every stage. The quotation will confirm what is included for the specific project.

01 / DESIGN

Define and develop

Review what is available, confirm the requirement and develop the agreed CAD direction.

02 / MAKE

Prototype and check

Produce a practical prototype or first sample for fit, function and assembly review.

03 / EVOLVE

Refine and prepare

Apply the agreed changes and prepare the design for repeat production or another process.

DEFINED PACKAGES OR A CUSTOM QUOTATION

Start with the route that fits the project.

Product Development packages start from £295 ex VAT (£354 including VAT). Packages can include an agreed design route, CAD development, design revisions and basic FDM prototype cycles.

Final pricing depends on complexity, number of components, available information, materials, prototype requirements and intended use. More complex or open-ended projects receive a custom quotation.

FROM PRACTICAL REQUIREMENT TO PHYSICAL RESULT

Different products. The same review-and-refine mindset.

Pump bracket prototype and fitted assembly

Exploded components and assembled unit

Jig, fixture and production aid

START WITH WHAT YOU HAVE

  • What the product or component needs to do
  • Important dimensions, interfaces or fixing points
  • Intended environment and material requirements
  • Quantity, target date and any known constraints

What happens next

  • We review the information supplied
  • We identify any missing details or practical questions
  • We recommend a package or custom project route
